Some girl is going to get the surprise of her young life on New Year’s Eve. Miley Cyrus and a whole crew of people from MTV are going to drop by for a day of fun, prizes and a live concert from the winner’s bedroom. It will all be part of “FNMTV Presents: A Miley-Sized Surprise…New Year’s Eve 2009,” presented live on MTV and offered to over 100 MTV Radio Network Affiliates across the country by Westwood One.
After Miley surprises the lucky fan by showing up on her doorstep, they’ll spend the day hanging out together, participating in activities for the fan’s favorite charity, and visiting with friends. Along the way, Miley will be showering her with gifts and treats. The day of festivities will wrap-up with performances by Miley from the winning fan’s bedroom, and another featuring Metro Station.
Miley will be hosting the live show from the home of the still-secret winner. Emceeing from the MTV Times Square Studio are Aussie twin duo Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, better known as The Veronicas. They’ll introduce performances from All Time Low, The Academy Is… and Kevin Rudolf.
In addition, MTV and Pepsi are closing out the final hours of 2008 by engaging consumers in a live text-to-screen dialogue about how they plan to refresh themselves and the world in 2009. Text messages from people in Times Square will be selected to appear on MTV’s HD Times Square Screen. Text messages from home viewers will be selected to appear on the crawl.

RBR/TVBR observation: We’re betting that Mom has been let in on the surprise so the room is presentable and the lucky winner isn’t off on an errand when Miley drops by. Kudos to MTV for trying to do something unique in the New Year’s Eve genre that’s been pretty much the same since the earliest days of television. And we also applaud them for running the whole live show 8:00-9:30 pm so parents of the younger Miley fans can get them off to bed without a fuss. The whole thing will be repeated at 10:30, with a countdown to midnight added at the end.
