Milwaukee pirate hit with forfeiture

Steven A. Skalecki was using 92.9 MHz as his own personal FM station in Milwaukee, and after being notified repeatedly between March 2006 and May 2007 to cease operations, he was finally hit with a $10K NAL in December 2007. He denied that he was the culprit, even though FCC agents repeatedly tracked the signal to his residence, saying he personally observed a neighbor broadcasting on that frequency. He failed to provide any evidence to back up that charge, and the NAL has been upgraded to a forfeiture order.

RBR/TVBR observation: It just seems incredible that somebody would keep on operating in the face of repeated threats from the government, and that the government would allow the illegal broadcasts to continue on unimpeded. If it were us, we’d have to start thinking about jacking up the penalty for each repeat offense once the miscreant has been ordered to cease and desist.
