Technically, the new outpost being established by JDL Corporation is Pascagoula-Moss Point MS, but that is a dual community-of-license in good standing as part of the Biloxi-Gulfport-Pascagoula market. It will mark JDL’s second location and third station.

Headed by James Larry Shirley, JDL Corporation is already active in Lucedale MS, where it owns WRBE AM-FM. Lucedale is in an unrated portion of the state north of Pascagoula.

The station JDL is buying is WPMP-AM. It is coming in a cash deal worth $140K. The seller is Flagship Radio Group Inc., headed by Timothy D. Lee.

The station is a Class D on 1580 kHz, with 5 kW-D and 51 W-N, with a different directional antenna pattern for day and night. It shares no contour overlap with the Lucedale combo.

The station has a MySpace page the lists its motto – “Talk that makes sense” – and provides a few other interesting tidbits, including the information that it is a 43-year-old male radio station born under the sign of Libra.
