Radio’s State Of Advertising: Auto Insurers Rule


It’s hardly a surprise that auto insurance specialists dominate the latest Media Monitors Spot Ten Radio report.

But, the brand that sits atop the latest report isn’t necessarily the one that is one of the top spenders of 2019 on broadcast and cable media.

For the week ending Dec. 22, State Farm was the top brand detected by play count by Media Monitors at the AM and FM stations it keeps tabs on.

State Farm was responsible for some 65,232 plays; category rival GEICO was No. 2, with some 50,056 spot.

The two brands are the only ones in its category on the latest Spot Ten Radio report, which finds American Express at No. 3 — a noteworthy position for the credit card brand.

Additionally, retailer JCPenney rises while Macy’s dips.
