Auto Insurance and Car Care: Radio’s Big Ad Road

0

With shelter-in-home restrictions across the U.S. melted away by the hot summer sun, driving has undoubtedly increased. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that auto insurance companies remain a dominant category for spot radio.

What’s perhaps new is the presence of two auto care retailers in the latest Media Monitors Spot Ten Radio report.

For the week ending June 7, 2020, Progressive is the dominant advertiser by spot plays at the radio stations tracked by iHeart-owned Media Monitors.

In fact, Progressive’s spot count is nearly double that seen during the week by big category rival GEICO. Then, there is Allstate, at No. 6 for the week.

The brands at No. 7 and No. 9 — with new campaigns — deserve attention, however. That’s because O’Reilly Auto Parts and NAPA are present.

This suggests that with the summer months, auto care brands could continue to be big users of broadcast radio to reach road-bound consumers.
