Why, And How, The FCC Can Extend EEO Reforms

Should FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and Commissioners Michael O’Rielly and Mignon Clyburn seek additional insight on how EEO reforms — and enforcement — can be extended to all technologies, the reply comments filed last week by the Multicultural Media, Telecom & Internet Council (MMTC) may provide the insight they need to move forward on the matter.

MMTC-new-logoIn a letter from MMTC President/CEO Kim Keenan and President Emeritus David Honig in reference to the FCC’s review of its broadcast and cable EEO rules and policies, MMTC followed the lead of the Internet and Television Association (NCTA), United States Telecom Association (USTelecom), and the American Cable Association (ACA) by agreeing with their request to extend the EEO reforms to MVPDs.

In its view, it’s time for the Commission to break the walls between media, wireline and wireless when it comes to EEO enforcement.
