The Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council (MMTC)‘s President/CEO, Kim Keenan, has been selected as a member of the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee (BDAC).

The BDAC’s mission is to provide advice and make recommendations to the Commission on how to accelerate the deployment of high-speed Internet access, or broadband, by reducing and removing regulatory barriers to infrastructure investment.  Keenan’s role will include a position as Vice Chair of the Removing State and Local Regulatory Barriers subcommittee.

“MMTC welcomes this opportunity to have a seat and a voice in the future of broadband deployment, expansion, and investment in our nation,”  Keenan said.  “I am honored to have this opportunity to work for a fully connected America.  The BDAC committee must work to ensure that underrepresented populations, including people of color, women, children, seniors, and rural and reservation populations, are included in our nation’s broadband future and, more importantly, granted opportunities for full participation.  We have great minds, great resources, and now we have to demonstrate the great will necessary to make high-speed broadband available to everyone.”
