MMTC setting up shop in Florida

WLCC-AM, which used to bring Mega Communications fare to Tampa-St. Pete from its city of license in Brandon FL, is getting a new owner. Licensee Adam Lindemann is donating the facility to the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council, headed by David Honig. It’ll be a rare station in that MMTC has at least three former FCC commissioners – Henry Rivera, Andrew Barrett and Gloria Tristani – on its board. And its employment protocol will also be unique – it will be used “for the training, in broadcasting, of minorities and other socially disadvantaged persons.”

RBR/TVBR observation: MMTC’s mission is to promote diversity on the airwaves and in other communications endeavors. This will be a unique tool as it works toward achieving its goals.
