MMTC spinning another donated low power television

Trinity Broadcasting Network is turning over low power television licenses to a holding company controlled by Minority Media and Telecommunications Counsel, and for the second time, MMTC has filed to shuffle one of them through to a third party in exchange for cash.

The station is W48CN, a translator licensed to Sarasota FL. Although in radio terms the town is part of Arbitron’s Sarasota-Bradenton market, Nielsen parks it in the Tampa-St. Petersburg DMA.

They buyer is Citadel Communications LLC (the other Citadel, the television one, for you radio-centric readers) headed by Philip J. Lombardo. The buy breaks new territory for the group, which has ABC affiliates in Des Moines IA, Lincoln NE and Sioux City IA, and a CBS affiliate in Quad Cities IL-IA.

The price is $149,757 cash.

The selling entity is licensed as MMTC Broadcasting LLC, under David Honig. Like its other recent sale, which is sending Chicago-market W22AJ Arlington Heights IL to Chicago 22 LLC for a hair above $100K, the parties are asking for the FCC to do an instantaneous double step, allowing the station to pass from Trinity to MMTC at closing and directly to Citadel.
