Mobile Research Labs (www.mobileresearchlabs.com) has acquired media monitoring firm Mediaguide. Based in the Philadelphia area, Mediaguide operates in the audio monitoring space, offering both media monitoring and content-recognition services. Technologies developed by Mediaguide include audio recognition technologies and automated ad-id software that has been deployed internationally since 2002.

The technology has been utilized to monitor music and ad performances on radio, television and the Internet; to power mobile-based, real-time what’s-playing apps; and track content for protection purposes.

Mediaguide CEO Steven Lubin and his team will continue to be based in Philadelphia and the new company will be incorporated as Mobile Research Labs Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MRL Ltd.

Steve will serve as the Managing Director for Mobile Research Labs and is to lead MRL’s business development, marketing activities and operations in North America.
