The US Senate late Thursday passed 60-39 a bill authorizing $2 billion more for the popular government program referred to as “Cash for Clunkers,” which has lately spurred sales of new cars and ad spending by auto manufacturers and dealers. The measure, which had already been passed by the House, now goes to President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign it without delay.
