More detail on Harris buy of SpotRunner Malibu Media platform

RBR-TVBR spoke with Bob Duncan, VP/GM, Media Software Solutions, Harris Broadcast Communications, on the recent buy of Spot Runner’s Malibu Media platform, an online media exchange that simplifies the business of buying and selling TV ads. First of all, we confirmed that SpotRunner will still offer their other services to TV and Radio separate from Malibu.


The Malibu Platform was suspended by SpotRunner on August 4th, 2010, prior to the Harris acquisition.  Prior to the suspension, the Malibu Platform was severing the needs of multiple large media sellers and agency buyers.

“Harris is actively working to bring the unique capabilities of the Malibu Media Platform back to the marketplace.  As part of our activities we are determining our long range branding strategy for the product, said Duncan. “Harris is in a unique position in the industry with both buy and sell (agency, rep, network, station) side systems.  The Malibu technology enables us to more efficiently integrate buy and sell side systems for both traditional linear as well as advanced advertising inventory enabling our clients to maximize their revenue while minimizing the cost of their operations.”
