We’ve heard more clarification on the story we posted yesterday about the deal between Local Focus Radio and Initiative Media for 2009 Home Depot annuals (1/14/09 RBR #9).
Local Focus was chosen to service the 150 non-repped, un-rated and/or rural radio requests. The agency, like many others representing large accounts, is requesting and negotiating deep discounts over last year. Home Depot is specifically requesting a 35% national discount offer to rep firms/stations via Initiative. While we had heard Katz had walked away from the discounted offer, maybe not. Apparently, Katz has been working the same avail. Yes, they didn’t go after the non-repped business deal, but they are approaching their client stations with the same buying parameters as Local Focus and all other rep firms.
