More furloughs at Gannett

The furlough program that Gannett instituted for Q1 will be continued in Q2. CEO Craig Dubow sent employees a memo yesterday praising them for their efforts to reverse the company’s revenue decline, but noting that the downward slide is still continuing. Rather than more layoffs, Dubow said he chose another round of furloughs. All Gannett Broadcasting employees will take at least one week of unpaid furlough in Q2. The broadcast division management team and department heads will also take a temporary pay reduction equal to one week’s pay. Similar furloughs and pay cuts were announced for all other Gannett divisions.
