More newspapers open to Chapter 11

The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Philadelphia Daily News are the latest big city newspapers to seek protection from creditors under Chapter 11. Inquirer publisher Brian Tierney said the “…goal is to bring its debt in line with the reality of current economic conditions.” The Journal Register Company, which operates 20 dailies including some in the Philadelphia area, also went to Chapter 11 late last week.


RBR/TVBR observation: You know something? It’s not at all comforting that there is a media sector struggling even harder than broadcasters. We eagerly anticipate the day that all media find their place in the new world order and enjoy once again their fair share of the media pie.
