More than 30 million watched Tucson memorial

Seven networks carried President Barack Obama’s comments Wednesday (1/12) during the memorial service in Tucson for victims of last weekend’s mass shooting. The Nielsen Company reports that over 30 million people watched the president’s speech.


The address was carried live from approximately 8:45 pm to 9:15 pm ET. The sum of the average audience for those networks was 30,773,369 viewers, with a combined household rating of 19.4. The networks carrying the address included ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel (FNC) and MSNBC.
