Who is replacing Linda Danna at the helm of TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate WHAS-11 in Louisville?

The company has turned to its KUSA-9 in Denver, and a woman who has served as its News Director since 2015.

Succeeding Danna, who is stepping down as WHAS President/GM to “prioritize time with her family,” is Christy Moreno.

At KUSA, Moreno oversaw daily operations for the newsroom, including editorial content creation and collaborating with marketing, sales and community relations.

Under Moreno’s leadership, KUSA-9 won 12 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in 2017.

TEGNA EVP/COO for Media Operations Lynn Beall said, “Christy is a proven leader with unparalleled experience and a growth mindset. She knows what winning looks like, having run dominant newsrooms in both Denver and Knoxville. With a long track record of success, Christy has a true understanding of how best to serve local communities and will combine innovation with journalistic excellence to serve Louisville.”

Prior to KUSA, Moreno was news director at TEGNA’s WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tenn., and, before that, as Assistant News Director at TEGNA-owned KENS-5 in San Antonio.
