NAB disputes ACA complaint

The American Cable Association says that egregious retransmission requests by broadcasters is hurting its membership. The National Association of Broadcasters is stunned, since a recent study shows that from 2003 t0 2006, the average subscription price for cable has risen $14.03/month, while programming costs have only risen  $2.84/month. “With cable’s profits rising five times as much as their programming expenses, it is absolutely illogical to claim that retransmission consent plays a significant role in the continued escalation of cable subscription rates,” said NAB’s Dennis Wharton.
