NAB Takes To The Airwaves To Fight ‘AMFA’

From an outsider’s point of view, H.R. 4130 — the American Music Fairness Act — is all but dead on Capitol Hill. It’s not earned a new co-sponsor since a much ballyhooed Congressional hearing designed to increased interest in the proposed legislation. Its author, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.), is leaving Congress this fall to become CEO of American Jewish Committee (AJC).

Yet, efforts to place new performance fees on Radio aren’t likely to cease. That’s likely why Curtis LeGeyt and his team at the NAB are ramping up their consumer-focused messaging that seeks to set the record straight on the tale former Rep. Joe Crowley and recording industry advocacy group musicFIRST have been disseminating.
