First Lady Michelle Obama has some potent allies in her pursuit of the “Let’s Move” anti-childhood obesity effort. Television and radio operators, with the encouragement and assistance of the National Association of Broadcasters Educational Foundation, will be promoting healthy dietary and exercise choices.

The NAB joint board passed a resolution in support: “Be it resolved that in recognition of growing concerns about childhood obesity and the potential impact on our nation’s healthcare and wellness of children; the NAB Board of Directors and by extension its member local stations and networks agree to support First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” childhood obesity initiative. We look forward to helping inform and educate our nation’s children and parents on the benefits of healthy eating and living.”

The NABEF will be promoting a nationwide “Flash Workout” that will get children performing dance routine across the country. Broadcasters will promote the event with PSAs and live-read scripts. Further details will be forthcoming.
