USA Network announced that Nathan Lane will star in and executive produce a new original comedy pilot for the network. The as-yet-unnamed project will also star Cheyenne Jackson and Ken Jenkins.

The half-hour, single-camera comedy comes from Douglas McGrath, who will write, direct and executive produce the pilot.

“Nathan Lane is one of the most versatile comedic forces in the entertainment industry. We’re thrilled to have an actor his stature and Doug McGrath’s masterful script aligned with the launch of our comedy brand,” said Bill McGoldrick, Senior Vice President, Original Scripted Programming, USA Network. “We’re not surprised the combination of Nathan and Doug quickly attracted such high-caliber and notable actors as Cheyenne and Ken.”

Two-time Emmy(R) Award and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Nathan Lane will star as Jasper, an unlucky actor whose Broadway aspirations must be put on hold when his father’s health takes a turn for worse, forcing him to return to his Texas hometown. Cheyenne Jackson will play Tim, a handsome doctor who befriends Jasper in his Texas hometown. Ken Jenkins will star as Jasper’s father Burl, who lives by himself and drinks heavily as his health is fading. Academy-Award nominee Douglas McGrath will write, direct and executive produce the pilot from Universal Cable Prods.
