The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa already has an FM operating on 89.1 MHz in the Duluth MN-Lake Superior WI market. It is now going to expand its local radio cluster.

The new buyer owns and operates WGZS-FM Cloquet MN. Two of the stations it is getting are also licensed to that community: WKLK AM & FM, and the third, WMOZ-FM, is licensed to Moose Lake MN.

The seller is Alan Quarnstrom’s QB Broadcasting Ltd.

The buyer, headed by Karen Diver, is placing $18.5K in escrow and will add another $350K in cash at closing.

*WGZS-FM will still be the pick of the litter. It’s a Class C2 on 89.1 MHz with 50 kW @ 443’.
* WKLK-AM is a Class C on 1230 kHz with 720 W-U, ND
* WKLK-FM is a Class C3 on 96.5 MHz with 25 kW @ 315’
* WMOZ-FM, located southwest of Duluth, is the only one of the four that fails to put a 60 dBu signal over Duluth. It’s a Class A on 106.9 MHz with 6 kW @ 164’.
