MIAMI BEACH — Univision Communications just got a little cozier to key program supplier Grupo Televisa.
Miami-based Univision and Mexico City-based Televisa revealed here at NATPE Miami that they’ve teamed to launch a first-ever TV pilot initiative designed “to nurture the development of new original scripted and unscripted series by global independent producers.”
The pilot program aims to broaden the content pipeline for the two media entities by integrating the creative community, hopefully bringing the production of Spanish-language programming to both Univision and Telemundo.
This first phase of the pilot program has yielded upward of 100 TV project submissions.
UCI and Grupo Televisa intend to complete the selection phases and greenlight projects by summer 2018.
The projects that are green lit will enter the writers’ room phase for the development and subsequent production.
