Nautel’s ‘Transmission Talk Tuesday’ Continues Through July

Nautel “Transmission Talk Tuesday” online roundtable sessions are continuing throughout the month of July with discussions on grounding, audio processing, and minimizing operating costs.

Hosted by Nautel’s Jeff Welton, the weekly events bring in featured guests to discuss a range of topics related to Radio transmission.

The format is more informal than standard webinars and attendees are encouraged to actively participate with questions and comments.

All sessions begin at Noon EDT; advance registration is required. Topics to be covered in July are:

July 14: Grounding and Lightning Protection
Grounding – and Ferrites – will be the topic of discussion. “Everyone who knows me knows my obsession with ferrites,” said Welton. “We’ll have some fun in this hour, talking about best practices for your new installations, ways to improve existing ones, and common mistakes we’ve all made or seen at transmitter sites.”

July 21: Audio Processing
This session will include a discussion of products, techniques and best practices to improve the quality of sound from the microphone to the antenna. “I’ll be joined in this roundtable by Mike Erickson, who has decades of knowledge on the subject,” said Welton. “Mike also happens to possess one of the best sets of ears around. We’re anticipating a lively discussion.”

July 28: Minimizing Operating Costs
“This is an age-old question,” said Welton. “We all know how expensive Radio station
transmission facilities can be. There are many ways to help control costs including more efficient equipment, spectral efficiency optimization, MDCL in AM and so on. We’re asking you to bring your ideas and personal experience to the session to share with our other attendees.”
