NBC: Dateline wins 10-11 p.m. in 18-49

NBC“Dateline NBC” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew week to week by 8% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 1.2), 6% in adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.7) and 6% in total viewers (5.607 million vs. 5.283 million).  “Dateline” equaled its highest 18-49 rating since September 13.  From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Dateline” increased by 45% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6 from a 1.1), by 1.5 million persons or 31% in total viewers (6.4 million vs. 4.9 million) and by 47% in adults 25-54 (2.2 vs. 1.5). In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “Dateline” delivered a 10% margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 2.2 rating vs. a 2.0 for CBS’s second-place “Blue Bloods,” breaking a tie at 2.0 each from 10-10:30).


•           For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” ranked #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, and NBC in every key demographic, delivering a 15% margin of victory among those nets in that hour in adults 18-49 (with a 1.5 rating vs. a 1.3 for CBS’s second-place “Blue Bloods”).

•           From 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “The Michael J. Fox Show” (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall) jumped 0.2 of a point or 33% in 18-49 rating versus its rebroadcast in this time period last week and was up 9% in total viewers (3.034 million vs. 2.790 million).  From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of “Sean Saves the World” averaged a 0.7/3 in 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers overall, to retain 88% of its 18-49 lead-in and match its rating in this slot one week ago.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Friday night:

•           In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.3/6 with an encore telecast; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 2.6/7; and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.8/5 with an encore.

•           In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.7/3 with an encore; “Late Show,” 0.5/2; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.7/3 with an encore.

•           From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC’s “Nightline” averaged a 1.4/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

•           From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.4/5 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS’s original “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.2/4).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped “Late Late Show” (0.2/2).

•           At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
