NBC has a #2 hit series in ‘The Biggest Loser: Couples’

From 8-10:01 p.m., “The Biggest Loser: Couples” (3.8/10 in 18-49, 9.7 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in its highly competitive time period among adults 18-34, women 18-34 and women 18-49 behind only Fox’s “American Idol”-boosted lineup.  From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Biggest Loser” increased its 18-49 rating by 57 percent (to a 4.7 rating from a 3.0) and its overall viewership by 46 percent or 3.7 million persons (11.8 million vs. 8.1 million).


For its second hour from 9-10 p.m., “The Biggest Loser: Couples” ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-49, women 18-49, women 25-54 and adults, men and women 18-34, ahead of CBS’s “NCIS: Los Angeles,” ABC’s “Lost” encore and Fox’s “Human Target.”

From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, “The Jay Leno Show” averaged a 2.0/6 in adults 18-49; a 2.4/6 in adults 25-54 and 6.3 million viewers overall.  Last night’s time-period competition included CBS’s “The Good Wife” encore and ABC’s “Lost” rebroadcast.  Pending updates, Jay scored his second-highest 18-49 rating for any day of the week since December 8 and is currently at his highest total-viewer result for a any day of the week since that same date.

“The Jay Leno Show” is currently within a tenth of a rating point of the #1 rating in the hour among the major networks in adults 18-49 (pending updates) and is #1 in adults, men and women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54 (tie).

Versus Jay Leno’s 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” comparisons for last night’s telecast are: in adults 18-49, 2.0 vs. 1.4; adults 25-54, 2.4 vs. 1.8; and total viewers, 6.3 million vs. 5.1 million. 

Comparisons with NBC’s Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports averages over the 52 weeks prior to Jay’s debut are: in adults 18-49, 2.0 vs. 2.2; in adults 25-54, 2.4 vs. 2.7; and in total viewers, 6.3 million vs. 6.9 million).

In Late-Night Local People Meters Monday night:

Conan O’Brien (0.9/4 in 18-49 in local people meters with an encore telecast) tied CBS’s LATE SHOW (0.9/4 with an encore telecast) in Nielsen’s 25 local markets with People Meters.
At 12:35 a.m., Jimmy Fallon (0.5/3 in 18-49 in local people meters with an encore telecast) tied CBS’s first-run LATE LATE SHOW (0.5/3).
