NBC landed fourth but The Firm third-place

At 8 p.m. ET, the sixth season premiere of “30 Rock” (1.8/5 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) scored NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period since September 29 and equaled NBC’s top non-sports rating in the half-hour since February 3, 2011.  In a highly competitive time period versus CBS’s “Big Bang Theory,” Fox’s “Bones,” ABC’s “Wipeout” and CW’s “Vampire Diaries,” “30 Rock” finished #2 in the slot among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and men 18-34.  


At 8:30 ET, “Parks and Recreation” (1.9/5 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) delivered its biggest overall audience since October 6 and highest 18-49 rating since November 17.  “Parks” built on its lead-in by 6 percent in 18-49 rating.  “Parks and Recreation” improved on NBC’s average in this time period last season by 19 percent in 18-49 rating (1.9 vs. 1.6, “live plus same day,” non-sports) and 10 percent in total viewers (4.097 million vs. 3.737 million).  In a highly competitive time period versus CBS’s premiere of “Rob,” Fox’s “Bones,” ABC’s “Wipeout” and CW’s “Vampire Diaries,” “Parks” ranks #2 in the slot among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and men 18-34.  Keep in mind that on average this season, original telecasts of “Parks” have been adding 34 percent to their next-day “live plus same day” 18-49 rating when Nielsen includes additional time-shifted viewing in “live plus seven day” ratings.
 
From 9-9:31 p.m. ET, “The Office” (2.9/7 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 53 percent in 18-49 and 43 percent in total viewers.  “The Office” is #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34, women 18-34 and all key adult-male demos in a competitive time period versus ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “Person of Interest” and Fox’s premiere of “The Finder.”  Note that on average this season, “Office” originals have been adding 44 percent to their next-day “live plus same day” 18-49 rating when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in “live plus seven day” ratings.  

“The Office” is currently matching the 18-49 rating of its prior three episodes and delivering its biggest overall audience since November 10.
 
At 9:31 ET, “Up All Night” (2.0/5 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) debuted in its new time period with NBC’s top rating in the slot since November 10 and biggest overall audience since November 3 (pending updates).  “Up All Night” finished #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and women 18-34 in a competitive time period versus the concluding half-hours of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “Person of Interest” and Fox’s premiere of “The Finder.”  Note that “Up All Night” originals on Wednesday nights have been adding 48 percent to these next-day “live plus same day” ratings when Nielsen issues “live plus seven day” results so far this season.     

 At 10 p.m. ET, the regular-slot debut of “The Firm” averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers overall, NBC’s top results in the time period since December 22.
