NBC plans summer big top series

NBC’s latest reality project will recruit celebrities to try their skills on the high wire, taming wild beasts and such. The Peacock net plans a summer airing of  broadcast the American version of the international hit series "Celebrity Circus" (at this point a working title) from Endemol USA. The live competition series leading into the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics coverage invites celebrities to participate alongside avant garde professional circus troupes.


The series, which is currently being sold around the world, has had highly successful launches in Portugal and Argentina. On Portugal’s TVi network, the series averaged a 33 share and its finale skyrocketed to a 46 share. The primetime launch on Argentina’s Telefe had a 64.5 percent share doubling the network’s average in the time period.

Celebrity Circus is produced by Endemol USA, headed by President David Goldberg.
