The E.W. Scripps Company has signed a new multi-year affiliation agreement with NBC.

The agreement, which is effective Jan. 1, 2019, but announced Wednesday, ensures WGBA in Green Bay, Wisconsin; WTMJ in Milwaukee; KJRH in Tulsa, Oklahoma; WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida; and KSHB in Kansas City retain their NBC affiliate status.

WPTV-5 is one of the nation’s longest-running NBC stations, and the most stable in South Florida, as WTVJ-6 gained NBC following an affiliate switch some 30 years ago, with WSVN-7 shedding NBC and CBS going to WCiX — formerly Channel 6, with WTVJ then at Channel 4.

Meanwhile, the West Palm Beach market saw WPEC-12 shed ABC for CBS, as WTVX-34 lost the Tiffany Network and WPBF-25 began life with ABC.

All the while, WPTV-5 remained stable, owing to its continued market strength in many dayparts.

“We are pleased to renew our long-standing partnership with NBC,” said Brian Lawlor, president of Local Media. “Together our stations are able to serve these local communities with the news, information and entertainment they are seeking.”
