NBCOn 8/5, the AAA format heard on Entercom Wilkes-Barre’s WDMT-FM “The Mountain” will be replaced by NBC Sports Radio and a mix of local sports programming. Next month, the station will be known as “Sports Hub 102.3,” with a three-hour local sports broadcast weekday afternoons and NBC Sports Radio programs at other times.

“We haven’t been able to capitalize on The Mountain from a sales perspective,” Entercom Wilkes-Barre GM Ryan Flynn told the Times Leader. “It’s done OK from a ratings standpoint, and we have a dedicated core of listeners, but we haven’t been able to monetize that.”

NBC Sports Radio is a joint venture between NBC Sports Group and Dial Global.

Entercom also operates 98.5 KRZ (WKRZ), Froggy 101 (WGGY) as well as WILK. While 102.3 will become a sports station, The Mountain’s programming will continue on KRZ HD-2 as well as streamed on the Internet, Flynn told the paper.
