NBC takes Tuesday w/ 'America's Got Talent' and 'The Voice'

From 8-10 p.m. ET, the sixth season premiere of “America’s Got Talent” (4.2/12 in 18-49, 15.0 million viewers overall) is up versus last year’s premiere by 17 percent in 18-49 rating (4.2 vs. 3.6) and by 21 percent or 2.6 million persons in total viewers (14.969 vs. 12.351 million). 


It’s the top AGT premiere in 18-49 since 2007 (4.3 from 9-11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2007) and a new record for an AGT debut in total viewers.  Counting all “AGT” telecasts, the 4.2 in 18-49 is the show’s highest since Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 (4.2), the finale of the show’s second season.  In total viewers, it’s the #3 “AGT” telecast ever behind the last two finales.  “America’s Got Talent” won its time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, pending updates.

From its first half-hour to its fourth, “America’s Got Talent” grew by 59 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.8 from a 3.2) and by 39 percent or 4.7 million persons in total viewers (16.7 million vs. 12.1 million).  Versus NBC’s average in this time period last summer, “America’s Got Talent” was up 83 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 4.2 rating vs. a 2.3, “live plus same day,” non-sports) and up 82 percent in total viewers (14.969 million vs. 8.225 million).

Excluding sports, “Talent” delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in this slot in nearly 17 months (since January 5, 2010, “Biggest Loser” premiere, 4.6) and biggest overall viewership in the time period in more than five years (since November 29, 2005, “Biggest Loser 2” finale, 15.951 million).

From 10-11 p.m. ET, “The Voice” (4.9/13 in 18-49, 14.4 million viewers overall) is up week to week by 29% in 18-49 rating (4.9 vs. 3.8) and up 69 percent or 5.9 million persons in total viewers (14.375 million vs. 8.488 million).  Versus NBC’s average in this time period last summer, “The Voice” is up 69 percent in 18-49 rating (4.9 vs. 2.9, “live plus same day,” non-sports) and up 50 percent in total viewers (14.375 million vs. 9.593 million).

It’s the top “Voice” rating in four weeks in 18-49 and the biggest overall audience yet for The “Voice,” despite special competition last night from ABC’s coverage of the NBA Finals.

NBC is currently listed as #1 for the night in total viewers and all key adult-female demographics on an evening that included competition from ABC’s coverage of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, .
