NBC takes victory lap w/ 'Late Night Leno and Fallon'

NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” has won the week of July 12-16 in adults 18-49 and total viewers over all cable and broadcast competition, delivering bigger audiences than CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman” and ABC’s combination of “Nightline” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in every key ratings category: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.  Note that “Late Show” was an encore on Friday and “Kimmel” was in rebroadcast Monday through Thursday.
 
At 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” attracted bigger audiences than CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in adults 18-49, total viewers, men 18-49, women 18-49, women 18-34, adults 25-54, men 25-54 and women 25-54.  In adults 18-49, Jimmy’s audience was 18 percent bigger than Ferguson’s (704,000 vs. 596,000).  Jimmy Fallon also out-delivered ABC’s “Kimmel” encores in every key ratings category, despite “Kimmel’s” earlier start time.
 
To date, Jay Leno has ranked #1 in adult 18-49 rating on 89 of 95 nights versus “Late Show” (including ties) since returning as host of “Tonight” on March 1 (excluding the week of Wimbledon delays).  In total viewers, Jay has also ranked #1 on 89 of 95 nights.
 
For the week of July 12-16, Jay’s average 1.268 million adults 18-49 outscored Letterman’s 1.017 million; in total viewers, Jay’s audience of 3.810 million persons beat Letterman’s 3.079 million; and in adults 18-34, Jay’s 476,000 topped Letterman’s 374,000.  At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon’s 704,000 adults 18-49 for the week topped Ferguson’s 596,000; in total viewers, Jimmy’s 1.557 million led Ferguson’s 1.447 million; and in adults 18-34, Jimmy’s 256,000 tied Ferguson’s 256,000.
