NBC teams with YouTube for Talent auditions

NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” has already completed its audition road show to select competitors for this summer’s reality series. That is, most of the competitors. Now the show has announced a new twist to take auditions via YouTube.

On the America’s Got Talent YouTube site people are invited to submit videos of their act.

“12 acts will be chosen to perform live on a special America’s Got Talent/YouTube performance show on NBC this summer. 11 acts will be picked by the judges and 1 will be selected by your votes,” it states on the website. Voting to pick that one act will begin June 28th, also on the YouTube page.

“The show is open to any age and any talent, and the process is completely virtual and exclusively on YouTube, the notice says.

RBR-TVBR observation: Good move. This will build buzz before the series begins airing again this summer. Also, who knows, there might be a really amazing submission from someone who wasn’t able to make it to the non-virtual auditions.
