NBC wins the week in 18-49

NBCNBC is #1 for week 4 of the 2013-14 season in adults 18-49 and has won the opening four weeks of the season for a second year in a row.  NBC’s 3.0 rating for the week is up 15% versus its 2.6 for the same week last year (and up 43% versus NBC’s 2.1 for week four two years ago).


The 3.0 is NBC’s highest week four rating in six years (since a 3.1 in 2007).  The 9.4 million is NBC’s biggest week-four audience in seven years (since 10.3 million in 2006).

Through four weeks of the new season, NBC is up 3% vs. one year ago in 18-49 (3.2 vs. 3.1) to its highest four-week average in six years (since 2007, 3.5).

NBC is leading the season by 0.6 of a point (3.2 vs. CBS’s 2.6), the biggest margin in 11 years for any net four weeks into the season (since NBC led by 0.8 of a point in 2002).  On a percentage basis, NBC’s 23% margin is the biggest lead for any net at four weeks in 12 years (since NBC led by +27% in 2001).  NBC is also leading the season among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all other key demographics.

In total viewers, NBC finished week 4 in second place, and is also #2 for the season, its highest total-viewer ranking four weeks into the season in 11 years (since 2002).

NBC’s season average of 9.9 million viewers is its biggest overall audience four weeks into the season in seven years (since 2006, 10.3 million).  Versus one year ago, NBC is up 17% season to date in total viewers (9.9 million vs. 8.4 million).

For the week, NBC delivered three of the top five primetime telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49: “Sunday Night Football” (#1), Monday’s “The Voice” (#3) and Tuesday’s “Voice” (#5).  Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.  Also ranking among the top 25 primetime programs on the Big 4 were “The Blacklist” (#11), “The Biggest Loser” (tied for #22) and “Chicago Fire” (tied for #22).

“Sunday Night Football” was also #1 among primetime telecasts on the Big 4 in adults, men and women 18-34; men and women 18-49; adults and men 25-54; and teens 12-17, while “The Voice” accounted for the top entertainment telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in teens 12-17, women 18-49 (tie) and women 18-34.

NBC won the week among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all key demographic categories – adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.
