From 9-10 p.m. ET, “America’s Got Talent” (3.9/11 in 18-49, 14.6 million viewers overall) dominated with the show’s highest 18-49 rating in three years and its second biggest overall audience ever.  The last “Talent” telecast to score a higher 18-49 rating was the Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 edition (4.2), the show’s second season finale.  The only edition of “Talent” to deliver a bigger overall audience is the year-ago season finale on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 (15.8 million).

“America’s Got Talent” is the #1 telecast of the night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key categories.  In the time period, “Talent” was #1 among the major networks in all key ratings categories.  From its first half-hour to its second, “Talent” grew by 17 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.2 from a 3.6) and 11 percent or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (15.3 million vs. 13.8 million).

Versus the comparable year-ago telecast (Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, 3.3/9 in 18-49, 13.902 million viewers overall), last night’s “Talent” is up 18 percent in 18-49 rating and 5 percent in total viewers.

At 10 p.m., the second season debut of “Parenthood” (2.7/8 in adults 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall) dominated the time period, beating the original competition on ABC and CBS combined in every key ratings category — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.  Airing against the original competition of CBS’s special “Fashion’s Night Out 2010” and ABC’s “Final Witness,” “Parenthood” generated a 108 percent margin of victory in adults 18-49 (with a 2.7 rating vs. a 1.3 for the second-place “Final Witness”).  In total viewers, “Parenthood” won the hour by 63 percent or 2.9 million persons (7.6 million vs. 4.7 million for “Final Witness”)

“Parenthood” matched its third-highest rating ever in adults 18-49 and delivered its second-biggest overall audience to date (“live plus same day”).  The only higher 18-49 ratings are the 3.1 for the show’s series debut March 2 and a 2.9 for the April 20 episode.  In total viewers, only the series premiere (8.1 million) drew a bigger audience than last night’s 7.7 million.

Versus its season finale on May 25, “Parenthood” is up 4 percent in 18-49 rating (2.7 vs. 2.6) and 26 percent or 1.6 million persons in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 6.0 million).  Versus the show’s “live plus same day” season averages for 2009-10, last night’s “Parenthood” is up 4 percent in 18-49 rating (2.7 vs. 2.6) and 19 percent or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 6.382 million).  “Parenthood” also finished within 13 percent in 18-49 of its March 2 series premiere, which benefited from significant promotion during the February Olympics and higher overall viewership levels during the winter months.

From 8-9 p.m. ET, “Minute To Win It” (1.9/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) matched its highest Tuesday rating of the summer in 18-49 and hit a new summer high in total viewers.  In the time period, “Minute” ranked #2 among the major networks in 18-49.

From its first half-hour to its second, “Minute To Win It” grew by 29 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2 from a 1.7) and by 25 percent or more than 1.4 million persons in total viewers (to 7.3 million from 5.8 million).

NBC was #1 for the night in 18-49, total viewers and other key categories.  NBC’s 2.8 for the night matches its highest Tuesday average since June 1.
