NBC's 'A Michael Buble Christmas' strong viewership

At 8 p.m., “A Michael Bublé Christmas” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) delivered NBC’s second biggest overall audience in the time period so far this season, behind only the opening hour of the prior week’s “Biggest Loser” (7.065 million vs. 7.118 million), despite competition in the hour this week from Fox’s “Glee,” CBS’s “NCIS” encore and ABC’s “Last Man Standing” and “Man Up.”


From its first half-hour to its second, “A Michael Bublé Christmas” grew by 14 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.6 rating from a 1.4) and 17 percent or 1.1 million persons in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 6.5 million).  

From 9-11 p.m. ET, “The Biggest Loser 12” (2.2/6 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers) generated NBC’s biggest overall audience in the time period this season, despite time-period competition that included Fox’s “New Girl” and “Raising Hope,” ABC’s rebroadcasts of “The Middle” and “Suburgatory” and an original “Body of Proof” and CBS’s encores of “NCIS: LA” and “Unforgettable.”  “The Biggest Loser” is #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and total viewers and #1 in adults 25-54.

For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, “The Biggest Loser” was #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key demographics — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 — including a tie in men 25-54.

In the 10:30 lead-in to local to local news, “The Biggest Loser” delivered a 32 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 2.9 rating vs. a 2.2 for CBS’s second-place “Unforgettable” encore), and was also #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in all other key demographics.
