NBC’s "Community" up 35% on Thursday

From 8-8:30 p.m. ET, “Community” averaged a 2.3 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall.  “Community” scored NBC’s highest non-sports 18-49 and total-viewer results in this time period since April 9.


In the time period, “Community” is #1 among the major networks in adults 18-34 and men 18-34 (pending updates) and is currently within 0.2 of a rating point of second place in the half-hour in adults 18-49.  These are “Community’s” highest 18-49 and total-viewer results so far in its five telecasts in the 8-8:30 p.m. time period. 

“Community” is up 35% versus NBC’s 18-49 season average in the time period prior to the “Community” debut in this slot (2.3 vs. 1.7). 

“Community” is up week-to-week for a second week in a row in 18-49, up 10% versus the prior Thursday (2.3 vs. 2.1) and up 21% versus the Thursday before that (2.3 vs. 1.9). 

In total viewers, “Community” is up week-to-week for a fourth week in row.  Versus the prior Thursday, “Community” is up by 6 percent (5.6 million vs. 5.3 million) and versus the Thursday before that, “Community” is up by 12 percent (5.6 million vs. 5.0 million). 

From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, “Parks and Recreation” delivered a 2.2/6 in adults 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall, to score a season-high rating in adults 18-49.  In the time period, “Parks and Recreation” is #1 among the major networks in men 18-34.  “Parks and Recreation” has now retained 95 percent or more of its 18-49 lead-in with eight of eight telecasts in this slot so far this season.

Week-to-week, Parks and Recreation” is up 10% in 18-49 rating (2.2 vs. 2.0) and 3 percent in total viewers (4.9 million vs. 4.8 million).

From 9-9:31 p.m. ET, “The Office” averaged a 3.9/10 in adults 18-49 and 7.9 million viewers overall.  In the highly competitive time period, “The Office” was #1 among the major networks in all key adult-male demos, ahead of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “CSI” and Fox’s “Fringe.”  “The Office” is #2 in the half-hour in adults 18-49 ahead of “CSI” for a fifth week in a row.   

“The Office” is the #2 show of the night in adults 18-49, behind only ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

From 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, “30 Rock” delivered a 2.9/7 in adults 18-49 and 5.9 million viewers overall.  In the highly competitive time period, “30 Rock” is #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 and men 18-49.  “30 Rock” is a heavily time-shifted series, adding an average of 23% to these next-day “live plus same day” numbers in 18-49 so far this season when “live plus 7” results are calculated. 

From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, “The Jay Leno Show” averaged a 1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, a 1.8/5 in adults 25-54 and 4.7 million viewers overall.  Last night’s time-period competition in the time slot included CBS’s “The Mentalist” and ABC’s “Private Practice.”

Week to week, “The Jay Leno Show” is up 7 percent in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.5), 6 percent in adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.7) and 7 percent in total viewers (4.7 million vs. 4.4 million).

Comparisons with Jay Leno’s 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” are: in adults 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.4), adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (4.7 million vs. 5.1 million).  Comparisons with NBC’s Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports averages over the 52 weeks prior to the “Jay Leno” debut are: in adults 18-49, 1.6 vs. 2.2; in adults 25-54, 1.8 vs. 2.7; and in total viewers, 4.7 million vs. 6.9 million).

In Late-Night Local People Meters Thursday night:

Conan O’Brien (0.9/4 in 18-49 in local people meters) tied CBS’s LATE SHOW (0.9/4) in Nielsen’s 24 local markets with People Meters.
 
At 12:35 a.m., Jimmy Fallon (0.5/3 in 18-49 in local people meters) tied CBS’s LATE LATE SHOW (0.5/3).
