Last night’s game on NBC, in which the Ravens dominated the Jets scoring a 34-17 blowout victory, registered a 12.7 overnight rating and a 20 share, 11 percent lower than last year’s Week 4 game (Bears-Giants, 14.2/22), but up seven percent from the 2009 Week 4 game (Chargers-Steelers, 11.9/19). Jets-Ravens marked the second-highest Week 4 overnight rating in the six-year history of SNF.

For the fourth consecutive week Sunday Night Football was the No. 1 broadcast on Sunday night, according to overnight data released today by The Nielsen Company.

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK 4 GAMES:
2011 Jets-Ravens 12.7/20
2010 Bears-Giants 14.2/22
2009 Chargers-Steelers 11.9/19
2008 Eagles-Bears 12.3/20
2007 Eagles-Giants 10.8/17
2006 Seahawks-Bears 11.7/18

DOMINATED SUNDAY NIGHT: Last night’s Sunday Night Football broadcast easily won the night facing original network programs. NBC led the night among metered markets in primetime (7-11 p.m. ET) with a 10.1/16 topping the 9.0/14 for second-place CBS by 12 percent. NBC also beat ABC by 94 percent (5.2/8) and Fox by 173 percent (3.7/6 from 7-10 p.m.).

When the viewership is available tomorrow from Nielsen, Sunday Night Football is expected to be the most-watched Sunday night show for the fourth consecutive week, and when including the NFL Kickoff Thursday Night opener, primetime NFL games on NBC have defeated their competition each time this season. This continues a trend for SNF dominating Sunday nights. Last season, Sunday Night Football was the No. 1 show all 18 nights (100 percent) vs. its competition (16 Sundays, one Tuesday and one Thursday).

2011 – 5 of 5 (Four Sundays, one Thursday – 100 percent)
2010 – 18 of 18 (16 Sundays, one Tuesday and one Thursday – 100 percent)
2009 – 15 of 16 Sundays (94 percent)
2008 – 13 of 16 Sundays (81 percent)
2007 – 11 of 16 Sundays (69 percent)
2006 – nine of 16 Sundays (56 percent)
