NBC's 'The Sing-Off' takes second-place Monday

“The Sing Off” delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period, excluding Olympics, since September 14, 2009 (“America’s Got Talent”).


From 8-10 p.m. ET, “The Sing Off” (3.3 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49, 9.4 million viewers overall) set series records with increases of 18 percent in 18-49 rating and 10 percent in total viewers versus the prior records set with the season-two debut one week earlier (2.8/7 in 18-49, 8.570 million viewers overall on December 6).  “The Sing Off” delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period, excluding Olympics, since September 14, 2009 (“America’s Got Talent”).

Last night’s telecast is up versus the comparable year-ago telecast by 43 percent in 18-49 rating (3.3 vs. 2.3) and by 30 percent or 2.2 million persons in total viewers (9.430 million vs. 7.277 million).   Versus NBC’s time-period average for last season, last night’s “Sing Off” is up 74 percent in both 18-49 (3.3 vs. 1.9, non-sports “live plus same day”) and total viewers (9.430 million vs. 5.425 million).  “The Sing Off” ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and total viewers and #1 in adults, men and women 18-34 and women 18-49. 

At 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “Chase” locked up a 1.3/3 in adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall.  In 18-49, “Chase” held 87 percent of last week’s 1.5 rating for an original telecast.  This week’s “Chase” is #2 in the slot among ABC, CBS and NBC in most key demographics, including adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, ahead of ABC’s “Castle” encore.
