Veteran business affairs executive Beth Roberts has been elevated to COO of NBCUniversal’s Universal Cable Productions (UCP), and Executive Vice President, Business Affairs, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios. She will report directly to Bonnie Hammer, Chairman NBCU Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios.

Roberts will assume operational responsibilities for the strategic and financial growth of UCP, in addition to overseeing business affairs for USA Network, Syfy, E! Entertainment, G4, Sleuth, Chiller, Universal HD, UCP and E! production studios.  UCP will continue to be headed by a four-person management team which reports directly to Hammer and includes, along with Roberts, Mark Stern, Co-Head, Original Content; Jeff Wachtel, Co-Head, Original Content; and Jerry DiCanio, Head of Production.

“As a business affairs executive, Beth has always struck a perfect balance between strategic vision and fiscal discipline. That’s exactly what we need to take UCP to the next level, so Beth’s new role is an ideal expansion of her responsibilities,” said Hammer.

UCP creates content across multiple media platforms for USA, Syfy and other networks. It is the studio behind USA’s “Royal Pains,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Psych,” “In Plain Sight,” “Covert Affairs,” “Fairly Legal” and “Suits,” along with Syfy’s “Eureka,” “Warehouse 13” and “Alphas.” The studio is also producing “Against the Wall” for Lifetime and “I Just Want My Pants Back” for MTV.
