The epidemic of overweight Americans, and particularly, overweight children, continues to grow. Working to stem the tide is Michelle Obama, and the organizations behind major television networks ABC, CBS and NBC are all going to pitch in.

Obama personally announced their participation, saying, “We’re working with the Walt Disney Company, NBC Universal and Viacom to launch a nationwide public awareness campaign, educating parents and children about how to fight childhood obesity.”

The organizations she mentioned, of course, are associated with ABC, NBC and CBS respectively.

ABC has promised to take the campaign, called “Let’s Move,” into its script-writing department, and will work health-related themes into its popular children’s programming, particularly the Hannah Montana show.

Viacom’s Nickelodeon is also putting its kids cable channel to work to promote the program, promising PSAs and special programming.
