New ghost story for Hallmark Channel

Halloween is coming soon and nothing beats a good ghost story for becoming a spooky favorite that comes back year after year. We’ll see if that is the case with a new entry on Hallmark Channel, “Oliver’s Ghost.”

The Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere is about a young boy who sees apparitions that others can’t. Oliver’s Ghost stars a couple of beloved comedy pros, Martin Mull and Rhea Perlman as key figures in the life of a boy named Oliver McCaffrey (Nicholas Stargel).

Oliver is an all-American 11-year-old kid who has the uncanny ability to see ghosts, which is discovered when his parents move from the big city to an old home in the suburbs. No sooner does he take up residence in the new house when he finds it’s haunted by the spirit of the previous owner, a guy named Clive Rutledge (Mull). Clive’s been dead for a long time, but his spirit is very much alive — and plenty cranky that his home is being invaded.  As soon as Oliver’s family settles in, Clive does everything he can to drive them out.  He pounds out ominous tunes on the piano and starts to disrupt everyone’s daily life.

It turns out that only Oliver can see Clive, and after an awkward introduction they form an odd bond, driven together by Oliver’s inattentive family. But it’s left to a loving neighbor (Perlman) to finally show Clive that he needs to let go of his earthly regrets to have peace in the afterlife and allow Oliver’s family some tranquility themselves. The message in “Oliver’s Ghost” is that it’s never too late to come to terms with one’s life. And sometimes, it takes a wise kid to clear things up.

The premiere is Saturday, October 22nd at 9:00 pn ET/PT as part of Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Halloween.”
