Fleur de Lis Broadcasting owns and operates WTIX-FM Galliano LA, serving the New Orleans market. Now one of its principals, Michael A. Costello, had a deal to give WTIX a little sister.
The station is KNOU-FM Empire LA. It’s coming from Power Broadcasting LLC, headed by Ricardo Moreno.
Costello, who is said to have a 40% stake in Fleur de Lis, is the sole owner of the license company making the KNOU purchase. It’s called M.A.C. Broadcasting LLC.
It is paying $350K cash for the station.
The call letters and intellectual property are remaining with Power, however, making this a pure stick deal.
Oldies WTIX is a Class C1 on 94.3 MHz with 100 kW @ 981’. It emanates from south of New Orleans and throws a primary signal over most of what matters.
KNOU also originates from the south, but its lesser signal – a Class C2 7.8 kW, 850’ HAAT beaming on 104.5 MHz – does not cover the entire market.
The buyer is seeking a minor modification for KNOU to change its transmitter location and antenna height, and will also be seeking a call letter change, in both cases with the seller’s assistance as required.
Additionally, Costello has promised to use his influence with Fleur de Lis to secure a tower lease for the seller.
