Central Oregon Cable Advertising, which offers programming and broadband service to the citizens of Bend OR via its parent Bend Cable, is buying a low power television station in Bend which is the local CBS Network affiliate.

The station is KBNZ-LD, which has already moved into the world of digital broadcast on a voluntary basis. It is being sold by New Vision Television, which has operated it in conjunction with CBS KOIN-TV in Portland OR.

The station is on Channel 7, and simulcasts much of KOIN’s material. The buyer does produce local programming for cable channel COTV. Thus far, there is no word as to whether any of it will end up on KBNZ.

According to Oregon Media Central, COCA is looking at all aspects of the station’s operation, but does not plan any immediate changes. The buyer says it’s very interested in being able to sell advertising on it in conjunction with the cable system.
