Despite recent ratings improvement, MyNetworkTV is going to be reduced to not-quite-a-network this Fall. Citing the poor economy, News Corporation announced late yesterday that the sister broadcast network to Fox will cut back from six nights to five and offer less original programming. Saturdays will be returned to affiliates to program themselves. News Corp. has acquired rights to “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” reruns from NBC Universal to run in a two-hour block on one night and another will be filled with a movie. MyNetworkTV will, however, continue to air “WWE Friday Night SmackDown. Other programming will be announced later.
