Nexstar Finds Its Next Fresno Leader


His hometown is Yuba City, Calif.

He worked in the market for nearly a decade.

Now, an individual who has lived in California for the majority of the last 40 years is returning to Fresno, for a big role at Nexstar Media Group.

Nexstar has named J.R. Jackson to the role of VP/GM of KSEE-TV (NBC), KGPE-TV (CBS) and associated mobile / digital operations, including, serving Fresno.

“J.R. is a well-respected leader with an impressive background in broadcasting sales management, operations and marketing, including over two decades of experience in television and radio across California. He has a long history of optimizing sales performance and exceeding revenue targets by developing innovative multiplatform marketing solutions that help clients enhance sales,” said Matthew Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager of Nexstar Broadcasting.

“I am very happy to be joining Nexstar, the nation’s leading local broadcast television and media group, and I am looking forward to returning to the Fresno market and serving communities across California’s Central Valley,” said Jackson. “KSEE-TV, KGPE-TV, and are critically important to the region’s viewers and I look forward to working alongside the talented staffs at these local media businesses.”

Since May 2014, Jackson has been GM of Sinclair Broadcast Group’s CBS KVAL-TV, NBC KMTR-TV and digital multicasts associated with KMTR featuring The CW Network and THIS TV.

Before that, he spent nearly 9 years as GSM of Fox affiliate KMPH-TV and The CW Network affiliate KFRE-TV in Fresno.

From December 2001-August 2005, he was GSM for KOVR, the Sinclair-owned CBS affiliate in Sacramento.
