Nexstar to launch HD, expanded newscast in Scranton

Its WBRE-TV (NBC) and (via a JSA with Mission Broadcasting) WYOU-TV (CBS) in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market will air in full high definition beginning 4/2.  Nexstar also announced that WBRE-TV will expand its Eyewitness News programming to air on CBS affiliate WYOU-TV with two new half-hour broadcasts of Eyewitness News debuting exclusively on WYOU-TV at Noon and 7:00 p.m. weekdays.


The HD news programming follows significant investments by Nexstar including the purchase of new HD studio cameras, a completely re-designed HD Studio, and enhanced forecasting and weather presentation equipment as well as additional high definition infrastructure for production and master control operations.

Eyewitness News at Noon and Eyewitness News at 7 are two all-new HD broadcasts that will air weekdays exclusively on WYOU-TV, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., respectively.  WBRE-TV’s award-winning Eyewitness News programming will simulcast as well on WYOU-TV in Full HD Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., and Monday-Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Eyewitness News will continue to air weekdays on WBRE-TV from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
