Nexstar Broadcasting says that after months of planning and construction it will open a new broadcasting and news facility in Memphis to support the ops of WPTY-TV (ABC) and WLMT-TV (CW) serving Memphis, and WJKT-TV (FOX) Jackson, TN–and each station’s associated digital services.
With entirely new and expanded news production facilities, viewers will experience a contemporary look, design and news set for WPTY and WLMT. In addition, the new facility will feature advanced broadcasting technology for HD production of all on-air programming.
The upgrade will be operational and fully-staffed on 6/1.
The new 27,000 sq. ft. facility will feature a dynamic news studio outfitted with the latest HD news production resources and technologies including high definition studio cameras, enhanced meteorological forecasting technology and advanced weather and traffic presentation equipment. The new production and master control infrastructure will enable high definition commercial production and playback. Furthermore, the new Memphis facility will launch a unique news content center that features innovative equipment that allows the stations’ to transcend the traditional news presentation by providing local viewing audiences unique access to the news gathering and technical process.
