Now that programming restrictions have been lifted by the HD Digital Radio Alliance, immediate monetization is taking place in the form of brokered programming. NextMedia Group and WorldBand Media announced a strategic partnership to bring ethnic content to Northern California’s South Bay Area.  Utilizing NextMedia Group’s 106.5 FM KEZR HD Radio signal out of San Jose, these companies will strive to meet the underserved radio needs of this areas South Asian population.   Starting later this fall, listeners will be able to tune their radio dials to 106.5-HD2 to receive the programming.

Last week, WorldBand signed Emmis to launch the network on the HD3 channel of Emmis stations in New York (WQHT-HD3 or 97.1-HD3), Los Angeles (KPWR-HD3 or 105.9-HD3) and Chicago (WLUP-HD3 or 97.9-HD3).
