The “America’s Got Talent,” 92.3 Now FM (WXRK-FM) NY and “Cannon’s Countdown” host has been hospitalized in Aspen, CO for what wife Mariah Carey described as mild kidney failure. This, after a holiday in the ski resort community that Nick said would realize a lifelong dream.

“We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful,” Carey wrote on her blog.

“They tried to kick me out of the hospital,” she added, but — a diva gets what a diva wants, and Mariah wasn’t going anywhere. She noted that it was a big turnaround from a year ago, when Nick was at her side after she gave birth to their twins, Monroe and Moroccan.

The Christmas trip to Aspen was going to be a big deal for all involved, Cannon told the LA Times at the beginning of December. “I think my wife has been planning this all her life, Christmas with the kids,” Cannon said. “We always have a real Santa Claus come with real reindeer on Christmas Eve, but this is the first time with our own children.”

Carey said Wednesday on her blog, “We’re doing OK but we’re “straaaaaanded in Aspen”. #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK. I’m not trying to make light out of the situation because it’s a serious moment that’s very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers.”

Cannon’s rep had no further info 1/4 about his condition but told the AP the he is still hospitalized.
